Steur, Wojcik Named ITA Scholar-Athletes; Team Honored

SKILLMAN, N.J. – University of Colorado May 2015 graduate Julyette Steur and sophomore-to-be Kyra Wojcik were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes, announced the governing body of collegiate tennis.
In addition to the pair of student-athletes being named, the entire Buffaloes women's tennis team made the 2015 ITA All-Academic Team list.
It's the sixth ITA team honor, fifth academically for the CU women's team under the direction of head coach Nicole Kenneally. CU was one of eight Pac-12 Conference schools to make the team list. It's also the first ITA academic team honor for the Buffaloes since 2010-11.
Steur (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands), who graduated last May with a degree in business, earned her third straight ITA Scholar-Athlete award, the most of any women's tennis player in program's history. She's also CU's first three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete award recipient.
Also, making the academic list was Wojcik. The Goodyear, Ariz. native is an integrative physiology major.
The ITA Scholar-Athlete award is equivalent to being named an academic All-American and it's the 27th and 28th student-athletes named under Kenneally.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA, NAIA or Junior/Community College eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
All members of the 2015 ITA All-Academic Teams and ITA Scholar-Athletes will receive a certificate to recognize the achievement.
