SAN FRANCISCO - Colorado tennis player Tina Bokhua became the first CU tennis player in school history to be named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday.
Bokhua earned the award after a perfect weekend in singles matches. On Saturday against No. 69 University of Denver, the sophomore from Moscow, Russia, upset 62nd-ranked Julia O'Loughlin 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 singles position. On Sunday, she defeated Teal Vosburgh from Boise State 7-6 (2), 6-1 to lead the Buffaloes to a 7-0 victory.
For the season, Bokhua is 9-5 overall in singles matches, including 3-0 at No. 1 singles. She also holds a 3-2 record against nationally-ranked opponents, including an upset of No. 5 Josie Kuhlman from Florida on Oct. 9.
The Buffs are currently 3-2 in dual matches this spring after splitting home matches with DU and Boise State over the weekend. They head on a month-long road trip beginning this weekend with a match at Kansas State on Friday and at Kansas on Sunday.
CU has been a member of the Pac-12 Conference since the 2011-12 season.
