February 18, 2016 | Tennis
BOULDER - Colorado's tennis team will wrap up its month-long road trip this weekend in New Orleans. The Buffaloes will take on Tulane at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday and No. 18 Ole Miss at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday.
CU (4-4) is coming off a 6-1 win over Northern Colorado. The Buffs have been very competitive on their road trip, but their toughest test will likely come this weekend with a top-25 opponent on the schedule.
The Buffs currently have two players ranked nationally in the ITA singles rankings. Tina Bokhua is ranked No. 42 and Nuria Ormeño Ruiz is 115th. In doubles competition, those two remain unranked, but upset Northern Colorado's 40th-ranked duo last week and carry a 4-2 record together.
Tulane (1-6) earned its only win of the season against Nicholls State. However, the Green Wave has played a tough schedule, with losses to Wisconsin, No. 10 Texas Tech, No. 62 Syracuse, Wyoming, No. 60 Old Dominion and No. 36 Florida State. Tulane's No. 2 doubles pair of Elena Muller and Naz Karagoz are 7-0 this season together.
Ole Miss (5-0) brings an undefeated record into the weekend and is ranked 18th in the latest ITA poll. The Rebels have three singles players ranked nationally and their doubles pair of Arianne Hartono and Mai El Kamash is ranked 24th. Mississippi has defeated Memphis, No. 47 Purdue, No. 13 Stanford and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (twice) this season.
