April 20, 2016 | Tennis
BOULDER - Colorado's tennis team will wrap up the 2015-16 season at the Pac-12 Championships this weekend in Ojai, Calif.
CU finished its dual season with a 7-15 record, including 2-8 in the Pac-12, matching its best conference record since joining the league in 2011-12. This weekend's tournament, which begins Thursday, is an individual tournament.
Nuria Ormeño Ruiz, a junior, remains CU's top contender, joining the national rankings this week as the 120th-best singles player in the country. She has a 22-12 record this season, ranking 28th in CU history for single-season victories, and she continues to climb the career record books.
Alex Aiello is the team's lone senior and has the best track record in the Pac-12 Championships. Last season, she advanced further than any Buff in the four-year history at the tournament, reaching the quarterfinals of the invitational draw after a pair of victories. She and Ormeño Ruiz paired to advance to the semifinals in doubles of the invitational draw, also the furthest a CU doubles pair has advanced.
