Six Buffs Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO – Six Colorado tennis players earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors on Tuesday. It was the most the team has had earn all-academic honors from a conference since six were named to the Big 12 All-Academic team in 2002.
 
Annabelle Andrinopoulos, Brigitte Beck, Chloe Hule, Ilana Oleynik, Louise Ronaldson and Kyra Wojcik all were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention. To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, compete in at least half of their team's matches (or be held out due to injury), and have been enrolled at their current institution for more than one consecutive year.
 
Andrinopolous, a junior from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, has a 3.268 GPA and is double-majoring in marketing and management. She suffered a season-ending injury in CU's first dual match of the spring season, but compiled a 5-7 record overall in singles and 9-6 in doubles including individual tournaments before the injury.
 
Beck, also a junior from Melbourne, has a 3.422 GPA while double-majoring in neuroscience and integrative physiology. She finished the year with a team-best 16-8 doubles record and added 10 singles wins. In doubles play, she and Hule upset 65th-ranked Jena Cheng and Alexia Petrovic from Utah 6-0 on April 21. Then Beck earned a match-clinching singles victory as the Buffs closed out Pac-12 play with a 4-3 win over the Utes.
 
Hule, a sophomore from Adelaide, South Australia, has a 3.223 GPA as a psychology major. She finished the season 15-10 in doubles play and had 13 singles victories. She also earned Pac-12 singles wins over opponents from Arizona and Arizona State, in addition to her wins in doubles when she was paired with Beck.
 
Oleynik, a junior from Pacific Palisades, Calif., has a 3.370 GPA in psychology. She was 11-10 in doubles matches and had seven singles wins. She had her biggest singles win of the season in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament when she defeated Angela Li 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 position against Washington.
 
Ronaldson, a senior from Hammersmith, London, England, has a 3.247 GPA as a marketing major. She wrapped up her CU career with a 9-8 singles record and eight doubles wins in 2017-18. She picked up Pac-12 singles wins against opponents from USC and Utah, and clinched the doubles point with Wojcik in her final career home match against Utah on April 21.
 
Wojcik, a senior from Goodyear, Ariz., has a 3.108 GPA while majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology. She wrapped up a four-year career at CU with a career-best 10 singles victories and nine doubles wins as a senior. She earned Pac-12 singles wins against Arizona, Arizona State and California, and paired with Ronaldson for the doubles win against Utah.
 
The Buffs finished the 2017-18 season 9-12 overall, including 2-7 in the Pac-12. Head coach Nicole Kenneally retired last week, and assistant coach Mike Phillips is serving as the team's interim head coach while a national search is conducted for Kenneally's replacement.
