Colorado Continues Fall Season in Washington

October 09, 2019 | Tennis

BOULDER– Colorado women's tennis team is split this week with Sara Nayar and Monica Malinen busy in the ITA All-American Championships while the rest of the squad heads to the University of Washington to compete Friday through Sunday in the Husky Invitational.

The Buffs will send Ky Ecton, Tallulah Farrow, Sophia Derivan, Ellen Puzak and Antonia Balzert to the tournament in the Pacific Northwest while Megan Forster and Maria Campos rest this weekend. This is everyone's second match except Derivan who opens her career as a Buff Friday.

Farrow and Balzert each picked up key wins two weeks ago in the Rice Fall Invitational. Balzert picked up an opening round two-set victory as well as a close extra match victory with a 7-6 first set. Farrow had the exact same results with a closer opening round victory after going 7-5 in the first set.

Balzert also picked up her first doubles win in the consolation semifinals with Campos in a close 7-6(5) win.

Ecton and Puzak recently competed at CSU with both still seeking a victory this season after falling in three individual matches and a pair of doubles matches together.
