Men Rise To Second, Women Move To 10th In USTFCCCA Polls

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Colorado cross country teams are both ranked in the top 10 of the USTFCCCA Poll as they prepare to compete at the 2019 NCAA Championships this Saturday, Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
Colorado's men moved up from third to second this week, which is their highest ranking this season, while the women are now ranked 10th.
 
The CU men are coming off a runner-up finish at the NCAA Mountain Region Championship where they defeated then-No. 2 BYU 53-56. Top-ranked Northern Arizona won the meet with 21 points. Colorado put all five of its scorers in the top 20. John Dressel led the way with a fifth-place finish, while Kashon Harrison was seventh. Joe Klecker and Eduardo Herrera placed 11th and 12th, respectively, while Gabe Fendel finished 18th.
 
The Buffs recorded 313 points in the latest poll for second and are five points in front of the third-place pick, BYU (308). NAU has been ranked No. 1 all season. The Lumberjacks recorded 329 points this week and recorded 10 of 11 first-place votes. CU isn't the only Pac-12 team in the top 10 as Stanford comes in at fourth. The Cardinal picked up the remaining first-place vote and has 289 points. Rounding out the top five is Portland (276).  
 
The CU women placed fourth at regionals. Sage Hurta led the team with a ninth-place finish, while Rachel McArthur was 20th. Third for CU was Holly Bent (21st), while Karina Mann recorded a 27th-place finish. Fifth for the Buffs was Annie Hill as she was 35th overall.
 
Colorado moved from eighth to 10th in the latest poll with 223 points and are one of three Pac-12 teams ranked in the top 10. Pac-12 Champion Stanford is second this week with 316 points and one first-place vote, and sits behind No. 1 Arkansas, which recorded the other 10 first-place votes for 329 points. The other Pac-12 team is Washington, which sits fourth (297) behind third-place BYU (305). Rounding out the top five for the women is Michigan State (276).
