Henderson Through To Finals In Texas Relays First Day

AUSTIN, Texas – Colorado track and field senior Eriana Henderson was the lone Buff to qualify through to finals Thursday in the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, finishing eighth in the 400 hurdles.

Henderson ran 59.30 to finish second in her heat behind LSU's Leah Phillips who ran 58.60. She will run in Saturday's final at 1:35 p.m. MT.

She was the only Buff to advance to finals and the only one in the top-10, but three men cracked the top-20 in their respected events. Tyler Williams placed 18th in the 400 in a time of 47.62, while Aaron McCoy finished 14th in the men's 400 hurdles in 52.83 while Garrett Nelson finished one place behind in 15th in 52.90.

Also in the top-20 was Abbey Glynn who finished 20th in the 400 in 56.16.

Reese Renz placed 24th in the women's 400 hurdles ahead of teammates Valerie Welch (26th | 62.43) and Tamia Badal (32nd | 63.25). Ian Gilmore also placed 29th in the 400 (48.09) while Ronald Sayles finished 27th in the 200 (21.36).

Tomorrow the Buffs will compete in just four races, the women's 100 hurdles, men's 110 hurdles, and both 4x400 relay prelims. Back in Colorado, the throws squads will compete in the javelin and hammer in the first day of the CSU-Pueblo Spank Blasing Invite. Â
