Colorado Set To Co-Host Chevron Silverado Showdown

BOULDER — The University of Colorado and Oregon women's golf programs are set to co-host the 2022 Chevron Silverado Showdown, April 4-6, at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at the 6,192-yard, par 72 North Course, which also hosts the PGA's Fortinet Championship in September.
Chevron is in its first year as the title sponsor of the Silverado Showdown, an event that has seen several recent winners continue on to the LPGA Tour.
"We are very excited to host the Silverado Showdown for the eighth year and welcome Chevron on board as a major sponsor," Colorado head coach Anne Kelly said. "Chevron has really come through as a huge supporter of the LPGA and is furthering their commitment to the future of women's golf with their support of the Silverado Showdown."
A total of 18 programs are scheduled to be represented at the Chevron Silverado Showdown, comprising of some of the best teams in the nation. Seven of the top 15 teams in the current NCAA Division I Women's Golf rankings will be at the event including No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Oregon and No. 6 Arizona State.
All 11 Pac-12 Conference programs that sponsor women's golf (Utah does not) will be in attendance along with No. 5 San Jose State, No. 11 Texas A&M, BYU, Iowa State, Northwestern, San Diego State and TCU.
The tournament will comprise of three rounds; 18 holes each day. Tee times for Monday and Tuesday's first and second rounds begin at 7:45 a.m. PT/8:45 a.m. MT, off both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Wednesday's third and final round will feature a Shotgun Start at 8 a.m. PT/9 a.m. MT. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
The Chevron Silverado Showdown will also feature several players who are competing at the Augusta National Women's Amateur this week. USC's Amari Avery is tied for third after two rounds at 1-over par, just one shot of the lead heading into Saturday's final round. TCU's Caitlyn Macnab is tied for 16th at 4-over while San Jose State's Antonia Malate is tied for 21st at 5-over. Six others expected to appear at Silverado failed to make the cut after two rounds, including Arizona State's Alexandra Forsterling, currently ranked No. 2 in the country.
Colorado sophomore Hailey Schalk will look to continue her strong spring season. Schalk's 74.4 scoring average in 15 spring rounds tops the Buffaloes and she's coming off an even-par performance at the PING/ASU Invitational with a career-best 54-hole score of 216.
Senior Diane Baillieux is Colorado's overall stroke leader at just under 75 per round and holds the Buffaloes' season-low 18-hole score of 67 at New Mexico's Branch Law/Dick McGuire Invite in September. Junior Ellie Gower is just over 75 per round on the season and has CU's low 54-hole effort in 2021-22; a 2-under par 211 at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
Senior Malak Bouraeda and Junior Issy Simpson, playing in just her third tournament of the season, round out Colorado's five-player lineup toward the team score. Freshmen Natalie Vo and Lauren Gooding will compete as individuals.
"Our team has shown definite progress over the course of this spring and it's always good for us to compete against top tier teams," Kelly said. "We have an amazing, highly ranked group of teams set to compete this year and the Silverado North course is a fantastic venue to host this great event."
