Buffs Compete In USATF Indoor Championships

BOULDER — The University of Colorado track and field team will compete in two meets this week with the sprinters, throwers and combined events athletes heading to the Air Force Collegiate Open Friday while Avery McMullen and Jada Green join four other CU alums at the USATF Indoor Championships beginning Thursday.

McMullen and Green highlight the weekend competing in the 2023 USATF Indoor Championships beginning Thursday in the pentathlon and continuing into Saturday in the 60 hurdles. They join four CU alums competing this weekend, Sage Hurta-Klecker in the 1,500, Abby Nichols in the 1,500 and 3,000, Eduardo Herrera in the 3,000 and Val Constien in the 3,000.

The pentathlon begins Thursday at 11 a.m. MT with the 60 hurdles and runs through 5 p.m. MT. The two Buffs will compete against some of the nation's best in the 12-woman field. Friday will have the 3,000-meter finals followed by the 60 hurdles and 1,500-meter finals Saturday.

Colorado will also send a large squad of sprinters, jumpers and throwers to the Air Force Collegiate Open Friday. Luc Andrada is doubling in the 60 and 200, while Nick Nuhfer and Cole Roming compete in the 400. Eva Bruce and Kara Lucyk will have a combo of doubles with Bruce in the 60, shot put and high jump while Lucyk is in the 60, 60 hurdles and long jump. Reese Renz will double on the track in the hurdles and 200 as well while the track doublers finish up with Allie Routledge and Riley Burkey in the hurdles and high jump. Burkey will also finish the meet with an 800-meter run.

In the field, Jackson Meyer is competing in the high jump and long jump, the later of which will be joined by Aidan Christiansen. For the throws, Henry Carlson, Lars Atkinson and Isaiah Bouchard are competing in the shot put with Bouchard and Atkinson doubling over to the weight throw with Tyler Sconce and Matt Ward. Obi Osafo-Mensah and Jane Powers will compete in both throws for the women while Lauren and Meghan Whyrick compete in the shot and Bella Braun and Gya'ni Sami compete in the weight throw.
