Colorado To Compete On Two Fronts This Weekend

Buffs set for meets in Spokane, Wash. and Boulder

BOULDER - Colorado's track and field program is sending a group of its field athletes to Spokane, Wash. to compete in the Washington State Invitational this weekend while the rest of the team is staying home as the Buffs host the Colorado Invitational.

CU will be represented by 10 men and 10 women at Washington State's meet which is scheduled to run Thursday through Saturday at The Podium. 

On the men's side, Nick Bianco, Drake Miller and John Swabik are all competing in the heptathlon and on the women's end, Eva Bruce and Allie Routledge will be taking part in the pentathlon.

At Colorado's second and final home meet of the indoor season over 40 Buffs are competing in mainly running events. The meet is taking place Friday and Saturday with field events on day one and running events on day two.

Ames Newman and Gustavo Alfonso are the only Buffs in field events on Friday. Newman will be competing in both the shot put and the weight throw while Alfonso will just be in the shot put.

Many Colorado runners will be participating in the mile races to close out the first day of competition before Saturday's events begin at 11 a.m. Day two consists of four preliminary races followed by 14 finals races split between the men and the women.
