Colorado Continues Indoor Season in Seattle and Lubbock

February 08, 2024 | Track and Field

BOULDER - With just a few more meets before the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Colorado track and field program has another packed weekend ahead with the Jarvis Scott Open and the Husky Classic.

The Buffaloes are sending their sprinters to compete in the Jarvis Scott Open which is set to take place in Lubbock, Texas on Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow, the running events will begin at 3 p.m. MT and will run to approximately 9 p.m. while action continues on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The group in Lubbock includes nine Buffs made up of six men and three women. Abbey Glynn, Emma Pollak and Joy Moorer are coming off personal bests in the 400-meter at the Colorado Invitational this past weekend. All three women will compete in the 400 once again while Moorer and Pollak will run in the 200-meter as Glynn is set to run in the 600-yard race as well.

On the men's side in Lubbock, the foursome of Ian Gilmore, Tyler Williams, Garrett Nelson and Nick Gehring will highlight the 4x400-meter relay. All four men will also be competing in the 400 as they are to be joined by Colton Romig. Lastly, Johnny Homsy is making the trip down to Texas to show off his skills in the 60-meter, in which he just set a PR in the last meet, and the 200.

Colorado's field athletes are not traveling and will stay in Boulder to get ready for the Air Force Collegiate Open next week.

The Husky Classic is also scheduled for Friday and Saturday and will take place in Seattle, Wash. Action is set to start at 2:30 p.m. MT on Friday and continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday. A much bigger group is traveling to Seattle with 19 men and eight women representing the Buffs.

Colorado's distance runners are coming off a great showing at the Colorado Invitational where they saw first-place finishes in the mile, 800-meter and 3,000-meter races on the women's side. On the men's side, the Buffs recorded top-three finishes in each of those events as well.

Ella Baran and Katie Doucette are big names to look at to lead the Colorado women while Grady Rauba, Ben Greene and Jake Derouin hope to highlight the men's squad.
