Stanojevic, Rebec Win ITA Regional Awards

BOULDER – Mila Stanojevic and Pia Rebec won ITA Mountain Region Awards and the two along with Aya El Sayed, Betina Tokac and Elys Ventura were all ranked in singles or doubles in the final regional rankings, the association announced last week.
Stanojevic was given the Arthur Ash Leadership and Sportsmanship Award and Rebec was named the ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year. Additionally, Stanojevic finished the season ranked No. 3 in the region while El Sayed was seventh and Tokac 16th.
In doubles action, the Buffs had two of the top four teams in the region, with El Sayed and Rebec ranked the No. 2 team and Stanojevic and Ventura ranked No. 4. As a team, the Buffs were ranked No. 6 in the Mountain Region.
This is the first time two Buffs have been ranked in the top seven of the regional rankings since the 2020-21 season and for the second time in the last 10 seasons. It's also the first time two doubles teams have been ranked in the final regional rankings since the 2009-10 season.
It's the first time two doubles teams have been in the top five and the No. 2 regional ranking for El Sayed and Rebec is the second-highest final regional ranking for a CU doubles team behind the 2018-19 pair of Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Monica Mahlen, who were the top-ranked duo in the region.
In the final national rankings, the Buffs earned a No. 71 ranking as a team and El Sayed and Rebec were ranked No. 55 and Stanojevic and Ventura No. 83 nationally.
El Sayed finished her penultimate season in college tennis with a 19-12 overall record, including a 9-8 dual record, all at No. 1 singles. She also played No. 1 doubles primarily with Rebec and the two had a 15-8 overall record and 9-7 mark in dual matches, all at No. 1. Overall, she had a 35-22 record on the season.
Rebec finished her freshman campaign with a 10-14 record in singles and 16-9 mark in doubles action for an overall record of 26-23. She played at the No. 4, 5 and 6 spot in singles and was teamed with El Sayed at No. 1 doubles, where the two had a 15-8 overall record and 9-7 mark in dual matches, all at No. 1.
Stanojevic finished the season with a 21-12 overall singles record, included a 16-6 record in dual matches, all at the No. 3 spot. She finished the season a perfect 13-0 outside of conference matches. In doubles, she teamed with Ventura to compile a 13-9 overall record, including a 12-8 dual record, mostly at No. 2 but also having a 1-0 mark at No. 1 doubles, and the duo picked up three Pac-12 wins. The duo finished their career with a 32-20 record together in doubles play. Overall, she had a 17-13 record in doubles play and a 38-25 record overall.
Tokac finished the season with a 13-12 overall singles record, including 11-6 in dual matches and 9-2 outside league play, all at the No. 4 spot. She played some doubles in the fall, earning a 3-4 record for an overall 16-16 mark on the season.
Ventura finished her season with a 16-15 singles record and 15-14 overall doubles record, mostly with Stanojevic, where the duo finished with a 13-9 mark, including 12-8 in dual matches while picking up three Pac-12 wins. The duo mostly played No. 2 doubles but also won their only match at No. 1 doubles. The duo finished their career with a 32-20 record together in doubles play.
With the team's 2-1 record at the NIT, the Buffs won two post season matches in back-to-back years for the first time in program history and the team's 14 dual match wins is the most in 21 seasons. CU compiled a 13-1 mark against teams outside the Pac-12 throughout the season and had a school-record 11 match win streak and perfect February, compiling a 9-0 record.
