Buffs Conquer Cougars, 66-47
December 02, 2025 | Women's Basketball
BOULDER – Colorado women's basketball (6-3, 0-0 Big 12) defeated College of Charleston (6-2, 0-0 Coastal Atlantic), 66-47, at the CU Events Center on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The Buffaloes played a close first quarter with the Cougars and extended their lead throughout the second, heading into the half ahead by seven. Charleston attempted to shorten the lead in the third, but the Buffs started the fourth on an 8-0 run to extend its lead, ending the game up by 19.
"We played really well in spurts tonight," head coach JR Payne stated. "There were a couple of pretty big lulls where we felt like we were kind of backtracking. But I thought the team did an exceptional job of being able to dig their heels in at that time, which is something we need, because every game we play for the rest of the year we're going to go on good runs. And then we'll have times where we're struggling, and sort of finding that ability to dig in together and get ourselves out of that is going to be essential for our success. I thought that was tremendous growth from Sunday night to Tuesday night, and lots of different, huge contributions from different people tonight. So really proud of our bench, how we played, and just overall, really good game tonight."
The Buffs had more rebounds (48-37), assists (15-9), steals (8-7) and blocks (3-2) than the Cougars. The Colorado defense only allowed four points in the fourth quarter, holding the College of Charleston's field goal percentage to 12.5% in the quarter.
