Buffs Have Productive Big 12 Media Day
July 10, 2025 | Football
IRVING, Texas – Colorado had a productive Wednesday at The Star on the second of two days of Big 12 Media Days, as the Buffaloes took part with seven other league teams throughout the day.
Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders was joined by QBs Julian Lewis and Kaidon Salter, PK Alejandro Mata, CB DJ McKinney and OT Jordan Seaton as the players took part in both creative photo and video shoots in unifrom and took part in various media interviews in the afternoon.
Coach Prime discussed much, but of note was the Buffs brining two quarterbacks to media day. Most teams that are unsure of a Day 1 starter in the off season usually shy away from bringing both, but he dediced both should experience it.
"We brought both of them because I don't know which one's gonna start," Coach Prime said. "I wouldn't have brought Kaidon here if I didn't trust him, but Juju is coming around the mountain when he comes, and I love him. I love what he brings to the table. I don't know how it's going to play out, but as long as it plays out, we can't lose either way, with either of those two."
Coach Prime also addressed the expectations around the team, even losing such star power as Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, as well as at least eight others that are continuing their careers at the professional level.Â
"We want to win," Coach Prime said. "We want to win at all costs. We want to be in that championship game, not here at The Star, but over at the other big house that Jerry (Jones) built. That's what we want to do, and that's what we're gearing up for. We play to win, we don't just play to compete."
Coach Prime also expressed his love for the Big 12 conference, commissioner Brett Yormark, "the best comissioner in college football," and all of the coaches around the Big 12. "I love them all. I want them all to win, just not when they're playing us."
One highlight of the late day roundtable session when Colorado put both Mata and Salter at the table together, Seaton joined the media scrum and asked Salter a series of questions, one of which was "how are you going to avoid sacks?"Â Salter quipped, "I've rushed for over, 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns the last two seasons, the legs will never be a problem."
Salter then got Seaton back, asking him if he like to run block or pass block better. "Typical click bait," Seaton said. "No, I prefer pass block, but this year I'm going to maximize my run block and make both pass block and run block flawless."
The Big 12 was the first conference out of the gate and now have a few weeks before the start of camp, which will be July 28. The Buffs open the 2025 season Friday, August 29, at home against Georgia Tech, 6 p.m. MT on ESPN.
