Givens Breaks Facility and Colorado Soil Records as Buffs Conclude Potts Invitational
January 17, 2026 | Track and Field
BOULDER — The University of Colorado track and field program opened the Potts Invitational on Saturday with strong performances across the track, highlighted by a facility record in the men's invitational mile.
For the second consecutive indoor season, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Sean Carlson aimed to break the sub four minute barrier in the mile. Last season, the mark was set by CSU Pueblo's Reece Sharman Newell. With new Athletic Director Fernando Lovo and Chancellor Dr. Justin Swartz in attendance, the Buffs did not disappoint.
With sparks flying and energy pumping, junior Isaiah Givens led the Buffaloes, running 3:57.52 in the men's invitational mile to set a facility record and a Colorado soil record. The race showcased Colorado depth as Kole Mathison clocked 4:00.74, TJ Hansen ran 4:01.52 in his first collegiate mile, Lukas Haug posted a personal best 4:02.03 and Grady Rauba recorded a personal best 4:03.14.
Colorado continued to post quality marks in the middle distances. In the men's 600 meters, Jaxson Cook ran 1:17.39 and Drew Costelow recorded a time of 1:18.13. On the women's side, Avery Pearson clocked 1:28.79 and Riley Burkey ran 1:33.77.
The Buffs saw multiple athletes advance in the men's 60 meter hurdles, with Antonio Votour running 8.13 in the prelims and improving to 8.09 in the final, while Teagan Malcom posted times of 8.40 in the prelims and 8.37 in the final.
In the men's 400 meters, Joran Ball ran 49.99 and Jameson Leigh recorded a time of 50.63. Colorado also ran 3:12.84 in the men's 4x400 meter relay with Malcom, Gehring, Leigh and Ball.

Sophomore Juliette Forstrom added another highlight for Colorado with a time of 9:36.59 in the women's 3000 meters. Beating the rest of the field by 17-seconds.
Colorado alumni were also featured in the meet.
