RMISA Championships Up Next, Start Friday With Alpine Qualifier Thursday
BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes Ski Team has captured the 2026 RMISA Regular Season Championship, finishing atop the standings with 2,733 points across five meets. The Buffs won three of the five meets on the season — all three combined alpine and Nordic events — and closed the regular season on a dominant run by winning the final three meets.
Utah finished second in the regular season standings with 2,463.5 points, while Denver placed third with 2,275.
Colorado's title run was comprehensive. The Buffs claimed the men's overall title, women's overall title, alpine title and Nordic title. CU led the conference in men's alpine, women's alpine and men's Nordic scoring, and was second in women's Nordic with 729 points — just behind Utah's 758.
The RMISA has crowned a regular season champion annually since 2006, and Colorado now owns eight of those titles. The Buffs last won in 2024, giving them two titles in the past three seasons, after a stretch in which their previous championship came in 2018. CU has finished first or second in eight of the last nine years.
The regular season crown marks the 37th conference championship in program history. Colorado has also claimed 29 postseason conference titles dating back to 1950.
That momentum now carries into the 2026 RMISA Championships, which begin this week with events split between two venues. Alpine races will take place at Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, Montana, while Nordic competition will be held at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah.
Due to weather, schedule adjustments were made for the championship week.
For alpine, Thursday, Feb. 26 will now serve as a slalom qualifier race. The RMISA Championship slalom will be contested Friday, Feb. 27, followed by the giant slalom championship race Saturday, Feb. 28.
On the Nordic side, championship competition begins Friday, Feb. 27 with the 7.5K classic interval start races. The meet concludes Saturday, Feb. 28 with the 20K freestyle mass start races.
