2002 Track & Field: Knutsen finished eighth in the 5,000 meter run at the indoor Husker invitational and also competed in the 3,000 meter run during the indoor season. Outdoors, he ran the 1,500 placing second at the Colorado Invitational (4:11.1) and finished as high as third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the ASU Invitational (9:31.16).

High School: At Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California, Knutsen ran long distance events all four years. He was part of three Sunset League championship teams during his high school career. Knutsen was his high schools? student athlete of the year as a senior.

Personal: Andrew Jay Knutsen was born March 11, 1981 in Kearney, Neb. to Steve and Cathy Knutsen. Knutsen hopes to pursue a career in computer science and would like to compete in triathlons. His dad played football at Nebraska-Kearney and his uncle at Nebraska.
