Winning Attitude Contest Guidelines

Contest Guidelines

  • Colorado middle school students, grades 6th-8th, are eligible to participate.
  • Story must be about an activity the submitter experienced, not a fictional event.

The Winning Attitude committee will judge the essays on the following:

  • Committee will begin accepting essay submissions on August 22, 2011.
  • The essay should highlight how the student has displayed a Winning Attitude in the classroom, on the court/field, or in the community.
  • Essays are judged primarily on content not grammar, spelling or writing ability. The studentGÇÖs attitude and desire to make a difference is the key.
  • Past essays have described involvement with Special Olympics, fundraising for supplies for less-fortunate students, and being team leaders with their positive attitudes.
  • The typed essay should be 500 words or less.
  • The essays are judged and awarded on an ongoing basis. To be considered, all entries must be submitted by January 13, 2012; however, earlier submissions give you a greater number of opportunities to be selected.
