2008 OUTLOOK: Dani has trained diligently this fall to gain the requisite fitness to not only improve on her PR, but to impact the scoring at the Big 12 Outdoor meet.

2007: Rodriguez had a successful freshman showing in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season she competed only in the 800-meters, but she placed fifth at the Air Force Invite with a time of 2:23.03 and set a pr time of 2:18.27 at the Big 12 Indoor meet. The outdoor season saw Rodriguez compete in the 200, 400, 800 and 1500-meter events. In the 200, she placed 14th at the Potts Invite with a pr time of 29.72, while in the 400 she set a pr of 65.01 at the Tom Benich Invite. Rodriguez had an outstanding showing in the 800 during the outdoor season with two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes and one third-place finish. She set her pr of 2:19.28 at the Potts Invite where she took second. Her two first-place finishes came at the Wyoming Invite and the Air Force Twilight Invite with times of 2:21.83 and 2:22.62 respectively. Rodriguez continued her dominance in the 1,500 with a first-place finish at the Wyoming Invite on a time of 4:45.40. She set a pr time of 4:45.13 at the Jack Christiansen Invite where she finished in third place. Rodriguez wrapped up her 2007 season at the Big 12 Outdoor meet with a 16th place finish on a time of 4:45.21.

CROSS COUNTRY: Rodriguez participated in three races for the ?B’ team. She started the season with a 29th-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Shootout (11th CU scorer). At the Fort Hays Invite, she was the second Buff to finish the 5k race and placed 14th overall. Rodriguez also took fifth at the Air Force Invite.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rodriguez was a member of the district championship track and field team (2003-06); as well as the regionals champions in 2003, 2005 and ’06. Rodriguez competed in the 800 and 1,600-meter runs. She held the school record in the 800 (2:23.00) in 2004 and still owns the record in the 1,600 with a mark of 5:20, set in 2006 and in the 4x400-meter relay of 9:43.00 which was set in 2005. She lists her personal bests as 2:18 in the 800 set in 2006 at the Littleton Invitational, 5:03.05 in the 1,500 at the USATF Outdoor Nationals in 2005 and 5:20 in the 1,600 set at the Region 6 Championships in 2006. Rodriguez was an all-conference selection her sophomore through senior seasons in the 800 and 4x800-meter relay. She was the Region 6 Champion in the 1,600 as a senior.

ACADEMICS: Rodriguez is an open major at Colorado and is interested in pre-journalism. As a senior in high school, she was named the Outstanding English Student, Outstanding History Student, Rotary Scholar, CU-LEAD Scholar and first-team academic all-state in volleyball and track. Rodriguez earned a 4.0 during her first semester at CU.

PERSONAL: Stephanie Danielle Rodriguez was born on Feb. 2, 19988 in Draper, Utah. Her parents are Rick and Lisa Rodriguez of Parker, Colo. She has one older brother, Casey, who plays baseball at Concordia University in Nebraska. Her grandfather, Rich Martin, ran track at Drake. Rodriguez lists playing volleyball and hiking as her hobbies. She has volunteered at the Denver Rescue Mission and the special education department.
