2017-18 (FRESHMAN): Huang wrapped up her freshman season with a 20-13 singles record and 14-8 doubles mark. Her 20 singles wins were a team high and her 14 doubles victories were third most. She played primarily the No. 1 singles position for the Buffs, going 8-10 at that spot. She was nationally-ranked three times during the season, including a season-best 106th on Feb. 7. Huang earned her first career win over Oklahoma’s Simran Kaur Sethi, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 at the CU Invitational on Sept. 29. During the fall season, she won the first eight matches of her career, going 3-0 at the CU Invitational to capture the championship with a win over teammate Jeannez Daniel in the final. She then went 5-1 at the ITA Mountain Region Championships, reaching the finals before falling to 71st-ranked Marianna Petrei from Idaho. In her five wins to reach the championship, she defeated 97th-ranked Claudia Herrero of Nevada in three sets in the quarterfinals and then upset top-seed Julia O’Loughlin from Denver in the semifinals. She also captured the singles title at the San Diego State Invitational, going 3-0 in the tournament in early November. Huang won eight consecutive matches again from Nov. 10 to Feb. 11, including the last five coming in dual matches. Huang picked up her first career Pac-12 singles win 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 over Mary Lewis from Arizona on March 9. On April 17, she earned her second win over a nationally-ranked opponent with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (5) upset of 52nd-ranked O’Loughlin against Denver. In doubles play, Huang was strong early on. She won six of her first seven doubles matches with two different partners. Her first career doubles win came with Brigitte Beck as the pair defeated Yue Chen and Lauren Rich from New Mexico 6-1 at the CU Invitational. Huang and Annabelle Andrinopoulos reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Mountain Region Championships with three victories. In the spring dual season, she won four straight doubles matches with Ilana Oleynik and Kyra Wojcik. After sitting out of doubles most of Pac-12 play, she returned for CU’s first-round match at the Pac-12 Tournament against Washington and paired with Oleynik for a 6-3 win over Angela Li and Alexis Prokopuik on April 25.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Huang graduated from Meriden School in Stratfield, Australia in December 2016. She led Meriden School to four All Australian Schools Tournament during her time there (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and another runner-up finish (2014).  A decorated youth player in Australia, she became the first Meriden player to compete in the Australian Open’s junior Grand Slam main draw in 2014. She has been a part of six different Tildesley Shield championship teams (2011-16), and won the event’s singles title in 2015. Huang added to an outstanding 2015 season, winning the gold medal at the International Sports Federation World Tennis Championship in Qatar, and earning honors as her school’s Sportswoman of the Year. She was a named to the All-Australian tennis team during her senior year.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: She plans to major in finance, and also has interest in engineering.
 
PERSONAL: Linda Li Huang was born December 31, 1998 in Sydney, Australia, to Jason Huang and Lili Zhang, who played professional volleyball for China. She hopes to continue playing tennis at a high level after she graduates from, and is also interested in biomedical engineering. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, shopping, hanging out with friends, and working out. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is also a skilled pianist.
