WOMEN's TENNIS WRAPS UP DEACON CLASSIC

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. ? Sophomores Jenny Hanson and Susan Johnson each posted third place finishes in their respective flights on Sunday taking the match in straight sets at the Wake Forest Deacon Classic. The three-day tournament consisted of four flights of singles and two flights of doubles.
In Flight C, Hanson defeated CU teammate Kristy Randono, 6-2, 6-1 in the third place match. Hanson, who lost her first round match on Friday, advanced to the consolation round winning two matches for the bronze finish.
In Flight D, Johnson followed the same path as Hanson, winning two matches en route to the third place finish taking a 6-3, 6-2 winner. Both CU women did not drop a set in the consolation round.
CU's freshmen doubles team of Kristy Randono and Martina Sedivec posted a 3-2 mark in the consolation round over the three-day tournament.
In addition to CU and Wake Forest, the tournament consisted of Georgia State, Tennessee Tech, UNC Greensboro, Virginia Tech, and Winthrop.
The CU women are idle until October 22-26 where they will travel to the Central Regional Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah.
