SEVERY TOPS ACADEMIC ALL-BIG 12 LIST

BOULDER - University of Colorado senior men's cross country runner Jon Severy (Aspen, Colo.) is the third harrier overall, first men's, to be named to a fourth First-Team Academic All-Big 12 Team, released by the conference office Tuesday.
Severy is one of 14 Buffs to be named to the first team with grade point averages of 3.20 or better, while two were named to the second team with gpa's ranging from 3.0-3.19. With one President's List and seven additional Dean's List semesters to his credit, the 2003-04 CoSIDA Third-Team Academic All-American, carries a team-best 3.768 in philosophy entering his final season.
Senior Jared Scott (geography) is also making his fourth appearance on the all-academic team, as he spent the 2001 and '03 seasons on the first team and '02 on the second. Matt McCue (English) is making his third appearance, second on the first-team, and Austin Baille, his second on the first team.
Payton Batliner (mechanical engineering), Will Campbell (history), Pete Janson (kinesiology), Daniel Kenney (business), Brent Vaughn (applied mathematics), Christine Bolf (accounting), Allison Bruce (open option), Kristen Hoogheem (biological sciences), Erin Marston (integrative physiology) and Renee Metivier (mathematics) are all making their first appearance on the list.
The Buffs kickoff the postseason when they defend their Big 12 Conference titles Saturday, Oct. 30 in Topeka, Kan. The CU men have taken eight straight conference titles and seven of eight individual crowns while the CU women have won seven of eight team titles and all but two individual titles.
