WOMEN NETTERS PERFORM WELL AT USAFA

COLORADO SPRINGS ? Senior Kendra Strandemo improved her fall record to 4-1 with a pair of straight sets victories to advance to the Singles Flight 2 finals at the 2004 United States Air Force Invitational, Friday afternoon. Strandemo won both her matches in straight sets over Karolina Rowinski, Wyoming, 6-1, 6-0; and Denver's Stephanie Ginsburg, 6-3, 6-1.
Colorado is one of eight schools participating at the USAFA Invitational along with Air Force, Colorado State, Denver, Georgia Southern, New Mexico, Texas El-Paso and Wyoming.
Strandemo led the Buffaloes charge on the day with a 13-5 record in opening day singles action. Second semester freshman Lynzee Kever, ranked No. 67th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) also won a pair of matches to reach the finals, in addition to freshman Veera Nurmi, who won her two matches in straight sets to reach the finals.
In doubles, all three CU duos were victorious. In flight one, Strandemo and Jessica Vanderdys shut out a Wyoming pair (Chien/Rowinski), 8-0, in addition to Kever and Jenny Hanson defeating Tomkie/Wilson of Air Force, 8-2; and Nurmi and Martina Sedivec defeating a Wyoming tandem (House/Moser), 8-4.
Day two begins Saturday morning and concludes Sunday.
