Milewski/Vanderdys; Nurmi/Jendrian Unbeaten at USAFA Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ? Senior Jessica Vanderdys and freshman Monica Milewski teamed up for a perfect 3-0 doubles record on the first day of the six-team United States Air Force Academy Women's Tennis Invitational.
Milewski/Vanderdys breezed through all three of their matches by 8-2, 8-3, 8-2 decisions and will play fellow CU teammates Martina Sedivec and Gleisy Torres Torres in Saturday's continued doubles play in Flight I. Sedivec and Torres Torres went 2-1 on the day.
Friday's USAFA Invitational consisted of all doubles matches on Friday with Saturday morning the last scheduled doubles matches with singles to follow. Sunday will close out the two singles rounds weather permitting beginning at 8 a.m.
Joining the Buffaloes in the tournament are players from the Air Force, Colorado State, Denver, Northern Colorado, Wichita State and Wyoming.
The Buffaloes also saw a successful showing by sophomore Veera Nurmi and freshman Franziska Jendrian who teamed up for a perfect 3-0 record in Flight II. Nurmi/Jendrian will play Karissa Walker and Erika Shortride of Air Force on Saturday.
All three of CU's doubles combinations played with each other for the first time this fall.
In Flight III, senior Jenny Hanson teamed with Carmon Vasos of Northern Colorado for a 2-1 record. The lone setback was an exciting 9-8 decision decided by a 10-8 super tie-breaker.
Hanson/Vasos will play Saturday against Meghan Kister/Anastasia Kostrubala of Air Force.
