CU Senior Advances At Regional

The five-day event runs
from October 17-21 and is hosted by the Golden Hurricane at the
Torres Torres defeated
Rebecca Berger of Wyoming, 6-0, 6-1 in the opening Round of 64, then edged
ninth seeded Edina Horvath of Kansas, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8). It was Torres Torres'
sixth win of the fall in 10 matches played, in addition to her 60th
and 61st career singles match victories. Her two wins moves Torres
Torres into an 18th place tie on CU's all-time wins list.
The Buffaloes also saw
junior Franziska Jendrian and freshman Abbie Probert in action, each achieving
a 1-1 record on the day. Jendrian, seeded fourth, won her opening round match
defeating Kansas State's Natasha Viera, 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (4), however, dropped her
Round of 32 match to Kansas' Yuliana Svistan 6-3, 6-2.
Probert also won her Round
of 64 match defeating Melissa Hoffmeister (Arkansas) 6-3, 6-4, then dropped her
next match to Denver's Shavani Tirumurti, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (7).
During the fall season,
Jendrian is 7-3 (45-29 career), while Probert is 6-4 in her initial season at
CU.
Day two of the main draw
singles and doubles begins on Thursday.
