Buffs have Successful Showing at Jack Christiansen Invite

Track Competes At Front Range Classic

LARAMIE, Wyo. ? University of Colorado junior Jeremy Dodson took top honors in the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Front Range Classic in Laramie, Wyo. on Saturday afternoon.

 

Dodson recorded a personal best 10.32 in the 100-meter dash, which should move him up on the regional qualifying list. He picked up a season best 20.73 in the 200.

 

Teammate Ryan Campbell placed third in the 200. His time of 21.11 is his best of the season and a regional qualifying time.

 

Toi Windham led CU in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Windham placed first with a time of 61.24. Her twin sister, Joi, placed second, recording a time of 62.97.

 

Chelsea Haverty had a good day in the sprints. She took third in the 200 (25.30) and was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (14.89). Veronica Maul also took a third-place finish in the 400 (57.90).

 

In the field events, James Begley recorded three top five finishes. His best finish was in the men's shot put where he placed second overall. Begley recorded a throw of 51-09.00. He took third in the discus (173-10) and fifth in the hammer throw (183-07).

 

Kevin Fasing took second in the men's javelin. He notched a throw of 190-11. On the women's side, Alyssa Higby placed fourth with a toss of 116-09.

 

Members of the CU distance squad will compete at Stanford University on Sunday. It will be the final meet before the Buffs host the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 16-18.
