Combined Event Athletes Have Strong Showing at Air Force

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. ? Brianne Beemer, Eddie Taylor and Alex Von Hagen had strong performances at the Air Force Academy Combined Events Meet on Friday afternoon.
The three were chosen to represent CU in the meet against Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming.
Beemer recorded a career-best 3,209 points in the pentathlon and took third place overall. She also set a pr in the 60-meter hurdles by finishing in 9.44 seconds (third overall). Beemer recorded a pair of sixth place finishes in the high jump (4-11.50) and shot put (29-02.00) and placed seventh in the long jump (15-08.75).
Beemer finished the day strong by winning the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 21.13 seconds. She also won the 800 event part of the pentathlon last Friday at the Potts Invite.
On the men's side Von Hagen is currently in fourth place after the first day in the heptathlon with 2,468 points and teammate Eddie Taylor is fifth with 2,443 points.
Von Hagen placed first in the high jump with a jump of 6 feet, 1.25 inches while Taylor was fifth (5-08.50). Taylor led the Buffs in the other three events of the day. He was fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.35), long jump (19-11.75) and fifth in the shot put (33-05.75). Von Hagen was fifth in the 60 (7.48) and long jump (19-10.75) and sixth in the shot put (31-11.50).
The second day of the heptathlon is Saturday. CU will also have several athletes compete at the Air Force Duals on Saturday as well.
