BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's tennis team won for the fourth time in a row sweeping the Northern Colorado Bears, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. The victory was their sixth of their last seven and improved the Buffaloes to 7-3 on the season. The Bears have dropped six in a row and fall to 1-6.

CU, nationally ranked No. 51, continued its dominance against their in-state foes, winning for the 15th-straight time and holding a commanding 28-2 advantage in the series. The two schools have played three of the last four seasons with CU winning all three by 7-0 scores.

"It was a great day for tennis and being able to move the match outside was a great experience for everyone involved," said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. "The women are playing very well right now and with conference play starting next weekend, we have a little momentum to carry us to Nebraska and Iowa State."

The home team dominated doubles competition securing the doubles point for the sixth time with the No. 57 nationally ranked team of Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito defeating Tiffany and Tabatha Knop, 8-4 at the No. 1 doubles position. At No. 2, Ania Anuszkiewicz/Monica Milewski won for the fifth straight time, rolling to an 8-1 winner over Sydney Bell/Jennifer Whateley, 8-1.

At No. 3, Michala Hedelund Jensen and Abbie Probert were equally impressive defeating Hannah LaForest and Jill Kappel, 8-3.

Milewski's doubles win (73) moves her closer to Franziska Jendrian's all-time 76 doubles victories, while Esposito's doubles tally moves her to 71 career wins.

In singles, the Buffs kept the momentum rolling along claiming five of singles slots in straight sets.

Belassi won her seventh straight singles match defeating Jennifer Whateley 6-2, 6-0; Esposito won her fourth straight and tied for 11th on the school's all-time wins list defeating Tiffany Knop 6-2, 6-1; and Abbie Probert secured her fourth in a row defeating Luiza Xavier 6-1, 6-2.

CU picked up points at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots as Michala Hedelund Jensen won her third in fourth matches getting past Sydney Bell 6-3, 6-1; and freshman Erin Sanders won her fourth in a row defeating Jill Kappel 6-2, 6-4.

Milewski was the lone player to go three sets, however rallied for her eighth time in her career after dropping the first set to claim her 82nd career singles match, edging Tabatha Knop 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

Colorado begins Big 12 Conference play next weekend traveling to Nebraska (March 12) and Iowa State (March 14). The next home match will be a non-conference match against South Carolina, Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m.
