Buffs Earn Pac-12 XC Awards
November 01, 2016 | Cross Country
BOULDER – For the second straight season, Colorado head coach Mark Wetmore was named the Pac-12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Wetmore guided both of CU's teams to the 2016 Pac-12 team titles last Friday for the second consecutive year; the third time since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 2011. This is the sixth straight year he has earned the award on the men's side, while it's the third time he's earned it on the women's side. In total, this is the 18th and 19th time Wetmore has been named the conference coach of the year.
The Buffs also had eight individual harriers, four men and four women, named to the 2016 All-Pac-12 Teams. Senior Erin Clark, sophomore Dani Jones and junior Kaitlyn Benner were named to the first team, while sophomore Makena Morley was named a member of the second team.
On the men's side, senior Ben Saarel, junior Zach Perrin and sophomore John Dressel were named to the first team, while sophomore Ryan Forsyth was selected to the second team.
All-Pac-12 teams are determined by an athlete's placing at the Pac-12 Championship. First team members include the first through seventh place finishers, while those who place eighth through 14th earn a position on the second team.
