November 19, 2018 | Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS — The University of Colorado cross country teams recorded nine USTFCCCA NCAA Division I All-America honors, which were announced on Monday.
The CU women won their first NCAA title since 2004 on November 17 and were led by senior Dani Jones, who won the individual national championship. Jones, along with five of her teammates, Makena Morley (eighth), Tabor Scholl (15th), Sage Hurta (22nd), Tayler Tuttle (24th) and Val Constien (30th) all finished in the top 40 of the race to earn All-America honors.
The men recorded a fourth-place finish at NCAAs and earned up three All-America nods. Joe Klecker led the way with an eighth–place finish and was followed by John Dressel (ninth) and Ryan Forsyth (11th).
No program, out of the 34 that had at least one All-American on their roster, earned more All-America honors than Colorado. The Buffs had nine combined All-Americans between their men and women. The six All-Americans by the CU women is the most recorded by any women's team and tied men's NCAA Champion Northern Arizona for the most at NCAAs this season.
On a conference level, the Pac-12 led the way with 21 All-Americans. The West Coast Conference was a distant second with 11. In total, 14 conferences had at least one All-American.
