Cody Jumps Into Top-10 In School History

USAFA – The University of Colorado track and field program competed 11 athletes today at the Air Force Collegiate Open, led by freshman Jeremy Cody jumping to a win in the high jump and moving into the top-10 in Colorado history.

Cody jumped a lifetime best 2.09m (6-10.25) to win the meet, moving himself into ninth all-time in CU history in the event. He was joined by teammate Giancarlo Narvarte who jumped 1.90m (6-2.75) for fifth.

The women's throws were also dominate with a pair of victories in the women's shot put and weight throw. Mariah Walker took home the win in the shot put with a toss of 14.06m (46-1.5), while Elisa Grandemange won the weight throw at 16.87m (55-4.25). Walker also placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 14.29m (46-10.75).

On the men's side of throws, Tyler Sconce placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.07m (46-2). He also placed fifth in the weight throw at 13.64m (50-10).

The women's triple jump was another strong event for Colorado with Sarah Hopkins placing second and Cheyenne Cheshier placing third overall. Hopkins jumped 11.45m (37.6.75), while Cheshier jumped 11.20m (36-9).

The lone running event today for CU was the 60 hurdles where Kellen Monestime and Kylie Davis competed. Monestime ran a personal best 8.35 for second, while Davis was fourth overall in the women's race at 8.91 seconds.

Colorado competes next weekend in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships in Seattle, Wash., starting next Friday.
