March 29, 2019 | Tennis
BOULDER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team has moved the schedule match against Oregon inside to the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center today at 1:30 p.m.
Â
Colorado (9-8, 2-2 Pac-12) is sixth in the Pac-12 this season and is looking to finish the first half of the conference schedule above .500 for the first time in school history. Oregon (6-11, 0-6) is 11th in the conference standings and have suffered an eight-dual losing streak that includes seven-straight against ranked teams.
Â
The Buffs are led by junior Monica Malinen who became just the eighth woman in school history to be named a conference athlete of the week after the Pac-12 named her to the honor on Tuesday. Malinen picked up her 20th individual win of the season against Arizona State, as well as improve to 14-3 in dual play this season.
Â
CU is looking to keep up their strong play by picking up its fifth-straight doubles point. The Buffs have secured the last four doubles points, including at Arizona State where Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Malinen handed the No.2-ranked doubles team in the nation their first loss.
Â
Also for Colorado, Sara Nayar and Megan Forster have 11 wins this dual season. Forster picked up the clinching win to defeat Arizona last weekend, 4-3, for the second-ever Pac-12 road win in school history. Nayar was also key in that win with another win against a ranked opponent. The 121st-ranked player in the nation is now 2-2 against players ranked by the ITA.
Â
The Ducks are on a downslide after the season 6-3. Since their 5-2 win against San Diego on Feb. 16 Oregon is winless, including losing six of their last eight duals at home. The streak started with a close 4-3 loss to Idaho, but since the team has only been able to secure two team points against then-ranked No.20 Cal and No.13 USC.
Â
The decision on the final location of the dual will be made Friday morning with inclement weather calling for rain and wind during match time. Following this lone wolf weekend Colorado will head to Los Angeles to take on No.11 UCLA and No.16 USC.
