Colorado Closes Competition with seven singles victories
PROVO, Utah – The Colorado Buffalo women's tennis team will finish up its week of competition at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship this Friday, highlighting a dominant doubles team in the semifinals.
With seven Buffaloes onto backside competition, Rixt van der Werff and Lera Alexin continued their play in the semifinals but fell short of reaching the first-place match. The pair faced Levelston and Kovick of BYU, falling short in two sets to the Cougars, 6-2, 6-1.
Despite falling short in the semifinals, the Buffs came back in extra singles matches to dominate, winning seven of their nine singles matches; five of those matches were straight set victories, with the remaining two being tiebreakers.
Heidi Crncan faced Jessica Matthews of Indiana, taking the first set, 6-4, and falling short in the second. In the tiebreaker, Crncan came back, 10-7, to capture the win. Yukiko Ikedo held a similar outcome, winning her first set against Nutsa Tsinsadze, 7-6, with a 9-7 tiebreaker. With Tsinsadze taking the second, 6-2, Ikedo came back to also take a 10-7 tiebreaker win.

The Buffs will continue the fall slate after another two week pause, returning October 24-26th for the Pioneer Hidden Duals in Denver.
