
Ranked Buffs Travel to Nuttycombe Invite

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Colorado ranked cross country programs are set to compete at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational presented by Under Armour on Friday, October 17, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
The meet will feature an 8 kilometer men's race and a 6 kilometer women's race, both loaded with national caliber competition.
The men's field will include 32 teams, 18 of which are nationally ranked, including three from the Big 12. Programs scheduled to compete include No. 12 Butler, No. 6 BYU (Big 12), No. 15 CBU, No. 5 Colorado (Big 12), Duke, No. 26 Eastern Kentucky, Furman, No. 24 Georgetown, Gonzaga, No. 28 Harvard, Indiana, Iona, No. 1 Iowa State (Big 12), Lipscomb, Louisville, Michigan (receiving votes), No. 16 Michigan State, No. 3 New Mexico, North Carolina (receiving votes), North Carolina State, No. 13 Northern Arizona, No. 9 Notre Dame, Portland, No. 18 Stanford, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 17 Tulane, No. 27 Tulsa, Utah State (receiving votes), Villanova, Washington (receiving votes), No. 21 Washington State, and No. 7 Wisconsin.
Colorado's men will travel with a strong lineup led by Dominic Serem, who owns a personal best of 22:43.9 from the Princeton Fall Classic and a season best of 22:45.2 from the Gans Creek Classic. The Buffs continue to climb in the national polls. The women's squad made a major jump from 24 to 12 after a third place finish at the Gans Creek Classic and entered this week ranked 10th by the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll. The men's team remained steady at fifth in the latest rankings.
Last time out, the Colorado men's and women's programs each placed third in a nationally competitive field at the Gans Creek Classic. The women, then ranked 26th, scored 166 points behind 12th ranked Florida and 8th ranked Northern Arizona. Jessie Secor led the Buffs with a 17th place finish in 19:41.8 after steadily climbing through the pack. On the men's side, the 13th ranked Buffs also finished third with 126 points behind top ranked Iowa State and 6th ranked Virginia. Sophomore transfer Dominic Serem paced Colorado with a fifth place finish in 22:45.2, maintaining a top six position throughout the race.
The Nuttycombe Invitational serves as the final tune up before the postseason. With the top three Big 12 programs in the field, Friday's race could preview the Big 12 Championship podium. Colorado's women will look to carry momentum into the conference meet as their lineup continues to round into form. The Big 12 Championships are set for October 31, followed by the NCAA Mountain Regionals on November 14 and the NCAA Championships two weeks later.

The Big 12 Championship returns to Rim Rock Farm on October 31, marking the first time the conference meet has been held at the course since 2020.
