RITZENHEIN EARNS NCAA MARK ON DAY TWO AT MT SAC

WALNUT, Calif. ? The second day of the Mt. SAC Relays proved a successful outing for the Buffaloes, with one man earning a regional qualifying mark and another earning a personal best and one woman winning a title.

 

Dathan Ritzenhein raced to a fifth-place finish in the final section of the men's 1,500 meter run.  His time of 3:43.15 is an NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark and his second-fastest time at CU in the race, just following his mark of 3:42.99.

 

Freshman Jason Zichterman raced out to an early lead in the men's 800 meter run, but couldn't hold on to the lead and took second in a personal best of 1:50.94, the 19th fastest 800 in school history.

 

Sophomore Christine Bolf took the early lead in the women's 1,500 meter run and never relinquished it, finishing in a time of 4:31.66 to win her heat.  Her time was just off the regional qualifying mark of 4:29.12.

 

In Sunday action, it was the sprinters turn.  Deneeka Torrey doubled up in the women's hurdles, taking third in the women's 400 meter hurdles in 1:01.77. She was also fifth in the women's 100 meter hurdles in 14.27.  Liza Negriff took sixth in the women's triple jump in 38-08.75.
