Milewski Reaches Main Draw Finals at UNM Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.? University of Colorado freshman Monica Milewski kept her initial college tournament intact defeating fellow teammate Jessica Vanderdys in the semifinals taking a 6-2, 6-4 victory on Saturday at the four-team University of New Mexico Invitational. Milewski is the lone CU player in a Sunday final and will be matched up against New Mexico's Iva Gersic.
Vanderdys will play for third place also Sunday morning against Ashley Bentley of Alabama.
In addition to the host Lobos, the University of Alabama and Northern Arizona complete the field with CU.
In Flight B, Jenny Hanson, who went 1-1 on day one, advanced to the fifth place bracket defeating Maria Sotirchos of New Mexico, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Hanson will play another Lobo on Sunday against Mackenzie White.
In doubles, Vanderdys and Franziska Jendrian lost to Stephenson and Bentley of Alabama, 8-2 in the semifinals; while in Flight B sophomores Veera Nurmi and Allison Quinn won their semifinal match over Ryba/Sotirchos of New Mexico, 8-3, however subsequently lost in the final to Alabama's Muller/Godwin, 8-3.
