Women's Golf in 10th at Salbasgeon Suites Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. ? After two rounds here Monday, the University of Colorado women's golf team is in 10th place at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational hosted by Oregon State University.
“We just kind of played mediocre today. I think we had a little trouble with the greens and it's a course that requires really good lag putting,” said CU coach Anne Kelly. “The greens are big and undulating. They had challenging pin placements and that's an area that pointed out our weaknesses. We need to work on our lag putting and our short game.”

“In the morning she hit every fairway with her driver, and putted and chipped very well,” said Kelly. “She was really the bright spot for us today.”
The rest of the Buffaloes struggled in the early going. Freshman
“Domi made significant improvement from our tournament at CSU, with two really solid rounds today,” said Kelly. It was tougher this afternoon, the wind picked up and the greens dried out.”
The momentum did not improve for CU in the later round, as Kelly's Buffs fell 15 team strokes from morning to afternoon. Kim shot 77 to drop from first to fifth place, while the team went from a 297 to a 311 and into 10th place.
“I think in the afternoon Julie had a little more trouble and missed a few fairways, and had to punch out and recover from that,” said Kelly. “She hung in there tough; she played the front nine well but struggled on the back coming in.”
As for the other Buffs, Pytlewski shot a 76 and is in 25th place with a 151, giving Kelly a nice 1-2 punch from her freshmen. She is followed by Caljouw (77-80-157) in 52nd place and Hoch (80-78-158) in 59th.
“We are all disappointed but hope to make a comeback tomorrow,” said Kelly. “If anything, we are learning what we need to work on for our next tournament.”
The third and final round of the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational will tee off Tuesday morning.
