Salzmann Wins Decathlon at Glenn Morris Meet

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - University of Colorado junior Adam Salzmann finished first in the decathlon and sophomore Eddie Taylor placed second as the Glenn Morris Multi-Event Meet concluded on Friday.

Salzmann recorded 6,865 points to lead the five finishers in the combined event. After setting personal records in the 100-meter dash (11.21 seconds) and high jump (6 feet, 2 inches) on Thursday, Salzmann set two more personal bests on Friday. He cleared 14-11 in the pole vault and ran the 110 hurdles in 15.26. The mark in the pole vault is the third-highest in CU combined events history and the 110 hurdles time is the ninth-highest.

Taylor scored 5,923 points to finish in second place behind Salzmann. Taylor also set a personal record in the pole vault, clearing 13-11.25.

Freshman Jason DeWitt and sophomore Todd Ipsen also competed, finishing fourth and fifth place with 5,557 and 5,017 points, respectively.

In the women's heptathlon, sophomore Brianne Beemer finished in third place; recording 4,540 points. Beemer finished first in the 800 meters on Friday, clocking a time of 2:16.61. Her time in the 800 is the seventh-highest in the history of combined events at CU. Beemer now owns four of the eight fastest combined 800 times in Buffs' history.

Sophomore Katie Dreher finished fifth in the heptathlon with 4,288 points. She was second to Beemer in the 800 with a time of 2:23.48. 

The Buffaloes will have athletes competing at the Jack Christiansen Invite in Fort Collins on Saturday.
