Buffs Sit Tied For Fourth After Tough Race On Men’s Side

RENO, Nev. – The Colorado Buffaloes ski team continued competition at the Nevada Invitational on Sunday with slalom races at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, highlighted by another podium performance from Louison Accambray on the women's side, her sixth straight to open the season.

Accambray finished third to extend her season-opening podium streak to six races, while Cathinka Lunder placed eighth and Paige DeHart finished 10th. Alexa Brownlie did not finish her second run. On the men's side, Feb Allasina was the lone Buff to finish, placing fourth after moving up one position in the second run.

With only one men's finisher on the day, Colorado's team total took a hit and the Buffs sit tied for fourth place in the Nevada Invitational standings with 109 points.Utah leads the meet with 170 points, followed by Denver (142) and Montana State (115.5), while Colorado is tied with Colorado Mountain College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The men opened the day, and Colorado's lineup encountered early trouble. Stanley Buzek, Filip Wahlqvist, Justin Bigatel and Christoffer Oestroem all did not finish their first runs, leaving Allasina as the Buffs' only finisher.

Allasina delivered a clean second run and capitalized on attrition ahead of him, moving up from fifth after the first run to finish fourth overall.

The women followed with a much steadier showing. All four Buffs posted solid opening runs, with Accambray sitting fourth, Lunder ninth, DeHart 11th and Brownlie 14th at the halfway mark. Brownlie skied out on her second run, but the remaining three each moved up one position. Accambray climbed onto the podium in third, Lunder advanced to eighth and DeHart moved into the top 10.

UP NEXT

Action continues at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe with giant slalom races on Monday and Tuesday. Monday's race will serve as an RMISA Qualifier, while Tuesday's GS will close out the Nevada Invitational.
