March 08, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER – University of Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle announced the team's 2025-26 season awards Sunday afternoon at the Buffaloes' season celebration at the CU Events Center.
Isaiah Johnson and Barrington Hargress received the Chauncey Billups Award as the team's co-Most Valuable Players. The Chauncey Billups MVP Award is one of five voted on by Colorado men's basketball student-athletes. Jalin Holland and Ian Inman shared the Most Improved Player Award, Holland earned the Best Defender Award, Bangot Dak received the Most Inspirational Award and was the co-winner of the Tebo Family P.A.S.S. Award alongside Nick Randall.
In addition, two annual statistical champion awards were recognized. Hargress took home the McKinley Wright IV Assist Award while Dak earned the Stephane Pelle Rebounding Award.
It's the first time the Chauncey Billups MVP award has been shared, appropriately given to one of the all-around best backcourt duos in recent team history. Johnson becomes the first freshman to win the honor since Wright began his four-year run as team MVP in 2017-18.
Johnson leads the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game, setting Colorado's freshman season scoring record, currently 526 points, after his season-best 28-point effort against No. 2 Arizona. He also leads the Buffaloes in free throws made and attempted (158-192), 3-pointers made (54) and steals (32) while ranking second in assists (92) and 3-point percentage (.388).
Johnson is third in the Big 12 and 15th in the nation in scoring by a freshman. On the overall Big 12 leaderboard, he is 11th in free throw percentage and 13th in scoring and field goal percentage.
Hargress leads Colorado in assists (136), overall shooting (.531), 3-point percentage (.495) and overall field goals made (163) while ranking second in scoring (14.1 ppg), 3-pointers made (49) and steals (29).
Hargress leads the Big 12 and ranks 10th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.6. His output is even better in Big 12 games at 4.0. Hargress has 18 games with no more than one turnover. He is on pace to set Colorado single-season records in both assist-to-turnover ratio and 3-point percentage.
Hargress received the McKinley Wright IV Assist Award heading into the Big 12 Championship with 136. He has led the Buffaloes in assists 17 times this season, dishing out a career-best 11 against Providence on Nov. 14, which also resulted in his second career double-double (15 points).
Holland and Inman have made great strides in their first seasons, as the Most Improved Award is shared for the third time in its history. Inman has seen his output increase significantly during the Big 12 schedule, scoring 62 of his season's 70 points in conference games. He had 17 points on 5 of 7 from 3-point range and five rebounds – all career highs – in the win over Kansas State.
Since making his first start of the season on Feb. 1 vs. TCU, Holland is averaging 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, is tied for the team lead with 10 steals and second in blocked shots with eight over that 10-game span. He matched his season-best with 12 points against No. 2 Arizona. Overall, he is fourth on the team in steals and tied for third in blocks.
Dak enters the Big 12 Championship with a team-best 201 rebounds and an average of 6.5 per game, which ranks 16th in the Big 12. He has a team-best five double-doubles this season, highlighted by a career-best 22-point effort along with 10 rebounds in the road win over Utah. Dak has six double-figure rebounding games this year, including a personal and team season-high 13 against Texas Tech on Jan. 10.
In its ninth season, the Tebo Family P.A.S.S. Award is named in honor of Stephen Tebo, a long-time supporter of the Colorado basketball program. The award was created to recognize the player, or players, who best exemplified the virtues of Perseverance, Attitude, Selflessness, and Success. Dak and Randall are the third duo to share that honor.
