Colorado Takes Six First-Place Finishes

GOLDEN, Colo. ? The University of Colorado earned six first-place finishes at the Joe Davies Open here Saturday at the Colorado School of Mines to open the 2006 season. Junior George Pincock raced to a top-place finish in the 400-meters in 49.73 seconds and took second-place in the 200m (22.63).

 

Besides Pincock; Nate Terry, Zach Hazen, James Begley, Cortney Hutmacher and Mikaela Raddatz also took home top honors at the meet. Terry finished the 500m with a time of 1:05.294 and Raddatz took the women's 500m in 1:19.33. CU took three of the four throwing disciplines with Hutmacher claiming the women's weight throw (59-10.50), Hazen taking the men's weight throw (60-04.50) and Begley with the shot put (51-11.0).

 

Begley threw the weight 51-08.25 to place third behind Hazen. Sam Napp also had a great showing in the first competition of the season. He took fifth in the 60-meters (6.884) and placed third in the 200m (22.67). Chris Abuan took second in the 400m behind Pincock and also earned a fifth-place finish in the 200m.

 

Jackie Sturm finished second in the 200m (26.96) after taking 10th in the preliminaries. Andy Passen recorded a second-place finish in the shot put (51-00.75).

 

The Buffaloes are off until Feb. 3-4 when they will travel to the Air Force Invitational.
