Charles and Vaughn Place First At Air Force Invite

The men's team turned in a solid performance in the running events, placing at least one runner in the top five of each race the Buffs competed in. Junior George Pincock took fifth in the 200-meter (21.75) and was second in the 400-m with a time of 47.94. CU had two other second-place finishes; one in the 800-m by junior Daniel Kenney (1:56.17) and the other in the 4x440-yard relay (Chris Abuan, Nate Terry, Samuel Napp and George Pincock) with a pace of 3:18.05, only two seconds behind the winner.
The men's 3k race was dominated by the Buffs, as six CU runners placed in the top-10. Beside's Vaughn's first-place finish, Billy Nelson finished in third place with a time of 8:42.69. Payton Batliner took fifth, Erik Heinonen came in at seventh, Chris Pannone finished eighth and Seth DeMoor came in at 10th.
In the field events, junior Amberly Casey took second in the long jump (19-4.75) and sixth in the triple jump (37-10.50), followed closely by sophomore Chelsea Haverty, who finished in fourth with a long jump of 18-1.00 and ninth with a triple jump of 36-10.25. Junior Courtney Hutmacher landed in sixth in the weight throw with her toss of 57-11.0, while senior Andy Passen claimed fifth (54-5.50) in the shot put. Freshman Blaine Hoogenboom was the only CU high jumper and took an eighth-place finish (6-2.75).
The best finisher for the CU women in the running events was sophomore Mikaela Raddatz, who turned in a fifth place time of 58.55 in the 400-m. Junior Jackie Sturm competed in two events, taking eighth in the 60-m final in 8.01 seconds, and sixth in the 200-m with a time of 25.73.
The Buffs' next action will come on February 11-12. Most of the team will participate at the Husky Classic in
