Relay Sets Stadium Record At Tom Benich Classic

GREELEY, Colo. ? The University of Colorado men's 4x400 ?A' relay team broke tape first at the Tom Benich Classic on Saturday in Greeley, Colo. with a time of 3:10.46 to set a stadium record. George Pincock, Brandon Johnson, Chris Abuan and Nate Terry made up the record setting team.

 

Pincock also took top honors in the 200-meter run. He finished with a personal best time of 20.92, just one hundredth of a second of the stadium record (20.91). The time was also a regional qualifying mark.

 

Sam Napp and Lionel Lawson Jr. tied for first in the 100-m run with a personal record of 10.63 for each. Napp also came in fifth in the 200 (21.38) and Lawson took eighth (21.63). Abuan recorded a fourth-place finish (21.36) to help CU take three of the top five positions in the 200.

 

Jenny Barringer had a recorded a personal best in the 800-m. She finished in 2:14.49

 

In the field, Carly Newlands took second in the shot put and discus throw. Newlands recorded a throw of 44-11.0 in the shot put and 140-09 in the discus. Cortney Hutmacher finished third in the hammer throw (162-08) and fifth in the discus (130-04).

 

James Begley recorded a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 47-10.5. He finished eighth in the event.

 

The Buffs return home next Saturday, April 8 when a full squad competes in the Colorado Invitational at Potts Field. Field events begin at 9 a.m. and the running events start at 2 p.m.
