Track Competes at Jack Christiansen Invite

FORT COLLINS, Colo. ? Members of the University of Colorado track and field team competed at the Jack Christiansen Invitational, hosted by Colorado State University on Saturday.

 

CU's Anna Chase led the way for the Buffs, as the women took fourth place at the meet.

 

In the 5,000-meter run, Chase came in with a time of 18 minutes and 32.59 seconds, taking first place honors. Dani Rodriguez ran the 1,500 meters, trailing the first place finisher by less than one second with a 4:52.82 mark, in a thrilling race.

 

Allison Eckert came in second place for the Buffs in the 800-meter dash, turning in a time of 2:18.35, as Rodriguez followed close behind with a 2:19.23 mark. Emily Hanenburg also competed in the race, finishing with a time of 2:21.96, good enough for seventh place.

 

In the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase, Colorado's Heather West took fourth place honors with a time of 12:13.82. Alyssa Higby took second place in the javelin throw, with a toss of 117 feet and 1 inch, a best this season.

 

Micheel Shane and Parker Fales led the charge for the Buffaloes on the men's side of the meet. Shane took third place in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 11.02, while Fales placed third in the triple jump, with a leap of 13.57 meters.

 

In the men's 1,500 meters, Pete Janson took fifth place and Chris Pannone took eighth place honors, turning in times of 4:00.95 and 4:07.39, respectively.

 

The Buffaloes will be back in action at the Front Range Classic in Laramie, Wyoming and at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, California, for their final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships in Boulder on May 16-18.
