Dodson Takes First At Michael Johnson Invite

WACO, Texas -University of Colorado senior Jeremy Dodson took home the individual crown in the 100-meter dash at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Dodson recorded a time of 10.55 seconds to finish .03 seconds ahead of Baylor's Whitney Prevost. It was a very tight race as Desmond Jackson (Abilene Christian) was just behind Prevost for third with a mark of 10.59. Dodson advanced to the finals in the 100 after placing seventh in the prelims with a time of 10.72. He was also set to run in the invitational section of the 200-meter dash, but the race was canceled due to lightning and heavy rain later in the meet.
Kyle MacIntosh ran in the 400-meter hurdles and placed sixth overall. He ran a time of 53.98. Texas A&M-Kingsville's Sergio Rios won the event in 52.66.
Quinton Dodson also participated in a pair of events. He places 22nd in the prelims of the 100 (11.09) and tied for 11th in the 200 (open section) with a time of 22.30.
Several Buffs also competed at the Colorado State-Pueblo Invitational on Saturday in Pueblo, Colo. Laurisa Canini led CU with a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 6 inches. She also took 12th in the long jump (15-08.75). Emily Hunsucker led the throwers with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw. She launched a toss of 151-01, a personal best. She also took 12th in the shot put (38-00).
CU will travel to a trio of meets next weekend. Colorado State will host the Glenn Morris Combined Events meet April 22-23 and the Jack Christiansen Invitational on April 24. The Buffs will also travel to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, hosted by the University of California-Berkeley, April 23-24.
