Buffs Start CU Invite Strong

BOULDER -University of Colorado senior Kaity Kark got the CU Invitational at Potts Field off to a great start for the Buffs on Friday with a personal best and fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 160 feet, 4 inches.
Kark surpassed her former PR of 157-00 with her second toss of the afternoon. Chynna McCall also recorded a personal record in the event with a throw of 148-05, which earned her an eighth-place finish. She topped her former mark of 131-09 in her first throw. Kate Burton (unattached) won the event with her fifth throw of 193-03.Patrick Bachmann led the CU men when he took ninth place. He recorded his best throw of 165-08 in his second try. Drew Loftin (unattached) took top honors with a mark of 231-04 on his final attempt.
The CU Invitational continues on Saturday.
