Miler Pifer Sets School Record at Husky Classic

In addition, fellow Buffs Pete Janson and James Strang also placed 16th (8:16.02) and 26th (8:21.04) in the 3000, respectively. In the 800-meters, Jason Zichterman ran a season-best 1:51.62 for sixth place, followed by Anthony Chiulli in 1:52.04, for ninth. CU distance runner Brent Vaughn automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships with a second place finish in the 5000-meters, running a 13:38.30.
Rounding out the field in the 5000 were Jon Severy (14:10.53), Austin Baillie (14:13.95), Payton Batliner (14:17.38), and Matt McCue (14:46.18), finishing in 15th, 17th, 19th, and 32nd respectively.
Sprinters Hugh Charles and Samuel Napp both qualified for the 60-meter finals, with Charles tying for fifth by running a 6.96, while Napp came in ninth at 7.00. Napp also placed 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.32, following sophomore George Pincock, who tied for second place (21.78). Pincock came in sixth in the 400-meters as well, with a season-best time of 48.47.
Nate Terry, Chiulli, Napp, and Pincock captured a fourth place finish in the 4X400 meter-relay, as the unit posted a time of 3:16.05.
On the field, senior Andrew Miller ended the high jump competition in a four-way tie for fourth place, jumping
6-08.75. Charles also tied for third place in the long jump with a 24-05.50 mark. As for throw results, junior Andy Passen finished seventh in the shot put standings, with a 53-08.25 effort. Zach Hazen secured a fourth place finish in the weight throw (60-00.50), followed by a fifth place attempt by Passen at 57-09.50.
In the women’s competition, junior Christine Bolf captured second place in the 5000-meter run and automatically qualified for the NCAA championship meet, posting a mark of 15:56.56. Senior distance runner Kate Hamera clocked a season-best mile time of 4:53.06, good for an eighth place finish.
In the field competition, Anna Magle attained seventh place in the high jump, hitting a mark of 5-07.75. Amberly Casey garnered two top-10 finishes in the long jump and triple jump, hitting marks of 18-09 (fifth) and 38-04.25 (ninth), respectively. In the throw competition, Carly Newlands landed 10th in the shot put at 42-09.75, and Cortney Hutmacher earned fifth in the weight throw with a 57-09 effort.
