Trio of Buffs Take Second At Twilight Meet

GOLDEN, Colo. ? In a final tune-up before the Big 12 Championships, the University of Colorado track and field team earned a trio of runner-up finishes at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight meet on Friday night.
Mac Crawford, Kaity Kark and Katie Dreher all placed second in their respective events.
Crawford recorded a toss of 55 feet, 3.50 inches in the finals of the weight throw to earn his placing. He was fourth in the prelims after earning a mark of 53-01.50. Crawford bested teammate Chase Dukes who had been second after the prelims with a throw of 54-05.50. Dukes placed third overall with his mark from the prelims.
Kark was in first after the qualifying rounds of the shot put. Her toss of 41-00.25 earned her a second place finish as UNC's Meaghan Green took first with a throw of 42-05.25. Kark also took fourth in the weight throw with a season best mark of 48-09.00.
Katie Dreher earned a season best jump of 38-02.75 in the triple jump to earn a silver medal. She also placed sixth in the long jump after recording a mark of 17-08.25 in the finals.
Adam Salzmann had a good showing at the meet as well for CU. He tied for third in the high jump at 6-02.75 and was fifth in the pole vault (14-01.25). Both were season bests for Salzmann. James Nixon led the Buffs in the pole vault by taking fourth. He vaulted a mark of 14-07.25.
The next action for the Buffs is the Big 12 Indoor Championship February 27-28 in College Station, Texas; Texas A&M will host.
