DENVER – The University of Colorado women's tennis team was swept by the University of Denver, 7-0, Sunday evening in Denver to conclude nonconference play in Colorado before the Pac-12 season begins.
Â
Colorado (4-3) began strong against Denver (5-1) in doubles play, tying up the double results after two matches with a win from the No. 3 doubles team of Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Ky Ecton. The duo made quick work against Toni Nelson and Arisha Ladhini, winning the set 6-0.
Â
The Buffaloes were unable to secure the doubles point after a loss in the No. 1 doubles match with Bianca Mok and Camille V-Anderson defeating Monica Malinen and Tallulah Farrow by a score of 6-1. The doubles team point rested on the No. 2 doubles match where Anna Riedmiller and Tatum Burger bettered Sara Nayar and Megan Forster by a score of 6-2.
Â
CU began the match down 2-0 in the team score after Andrinopoulos forfeited the No. 1 singles match to No.89-ranked Bianna Mok. Denver was able to secure the match fairly quickly after that with wins in the No. 6 singles match from Camille V-Anderson against Ky Ecton (6-2, 6-0) and the No. 2 singles match with Ladhini defeating Nayar (6-0, 6-1).
Â
The brightest moment for the Buffaloes came in the No. 5 singles match with Nelson narrowly edging Farrow in two sets. Nelson took the first set by a score of 6-4, then Farrow fought hard in the second but fell by a set score of 7-6.
Â
